The Internet-based Speech Testing, Assessment, and Rehabilitation (i-STAR) system was developed to serve as a standardized speech assessment tool for research and clinic environment. While i-CAST is designed for closed-set speech recognition test, i-STAR is designed for open-set speech recognition test. Also the program can be used to help accelerate hearing impaired patients' auditory rehabilitation process. The program supports both the local and remote version. Local version stored the speech scores in local database and the user has to use the specific computer to access the data. No internet connection is needed for this version. Remote version stored the speech scores in central database and the user can access the data from any computer that installed i-STAR/i-CAST program. However, internet connection is required for this version. Also the user has to register and create USER/PWD for this version.
